New Hunter x Hunter Project Revealed as Online Real Escape Game

If the recent posts from Hunter x Hunter VAs Megumi Han (Gon) and Mariya Ise (Killua) got your hopes up for more anime, it's time to bring that rocket ship back down to Earth. While Han and Ise did indeed both return to the booth to record new lines for their beloved characters, they did so for a new Real Escape Game from Tokyo-based company SCRAP.

Marking the Real Escape Game series' third collaboration with Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter, "Online Real Escape Game x HUNTERxHUNTER: Escape from the Trick Dungeon" is set to be held for a limited time from March 25 to June 27. What makes this one special, however, is the fact that anyone can participate from any location as long as they purchase the game kit and can understand Japanese.

Following the act of last year's "Escape from the Greed Island Amusement Park," the latest Hunter x Hunter escape attempt will put players in the role of a remote Hunter Exam participant who communicates with Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika as they attempt to escape the trick dungeon and pass the exam. Players will even get to assemble items to make a model of the dungeon, which changes as they get deeper into the story.

Best of all—and most relevant to the earlier Hunter x Hunter excitement—is the fact that the voices behind Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Hisoka have all been newly recorded just for the game. Those who think they're up to the challenge can pick up the standard game kit for ¥3,000 (about $28) and the premium kit with a mug and a challenge letter from Hisoka for ¥4,000 ($38).
