A Live-Action Gundam is Coming to Netflix!
The internet is buzzing today with news that a live-action movie based on the classic anime franchise Mobile Suit Gundam is bound for streaming viewing on Netflix!
Legendary Pictures (home of Pacific Rim and the MonsterVerse) had previously announced a Gundam project on their production slate as far back as 2018, but more details, including plans for eventual distribution are finally emerging via Netflix’s official press release.
To wit: The live-action Mobile Suit Gundam movie will be produced and directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts of Kong: Skull Island with comic book luminary Brian K. Vaughan onboard as executive producer and scriptwriter.
Right now, there’s no official synopsis for the live-action adaptation, which is simply called GUNDAM, but it seems that the original 1979 anime series from Sunrise will provide most of the inspiration. Let’s hope so, anyways!
