Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Anime Film Hits 10 Billion Yen Milestone!
It seemed inevitable considering how successful it's been, and now, after 127 days in Japanese theaters, Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time has officially hit the 10 billion yen milestone. That adds up to about US$91.21 million in box office gross, and it's just the ninth anime film of all time to reach this impressive total.
In fact, just 37 other films in Japan have hit 10 billion yen in theaters, and Evangelion 3.0+1.0 managed to pull it off in a pandemic year. Hideaki Anno's final Evangelion film is preparing to leave theaters on July 21, so this is truly the best way possible to say "Good bye, all of EVANGELION."
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 made its way to theaters in Japan on March 8 following multiple COVID-19 related delays. A month ago, the updated version—Evangelion 3.0+1.01—was released with some enhancements. For everyone else, it's coming to Amazon Prime Video on August 13.
