Next My Hero Academia Movie Reveals Another Original Character

Main antagonist Flect Turn and newcomer Roddy Soul aren't the only original characters coming to the next My Hero Academia anime film. My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission will also include a third original character designed by series creator Kohei Horikoshi, with Megumi Hayashibara (Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion) set to provide the voice for Pino.

Pino is Roddy's sidekick, and is always with him and perched on his shoulders. While Pino doesn't actually speak human language, Hayashibara uses squeals and squeaks to express its emotions.

Here's the design:

And here's what Hayashibara said about the role:

"It's been a while since I've been cast because of my face... (laughs) I think this is a role that I can fully demonstrate my 'Quirks' that I developed in the P-something Monster. After deciding to participate, I started watching the series from the first season. Though I haven't caught up with the latest, I'm going to be in perfect condition. There are so many great scenes in this series. I've already found my own favorite character. But...they are all cute."

My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission
opens in Japan on August 6.
