Overlord Anime Continues with Season 4 and a Movie

This weekend was host to a big reveal for the Overlord anime series, based on the light novels written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. Not only is a fourth season on the way—titled Overlord IV, of course—but there's also an anime film in the works.

Madhouse will once again work on animation production for Overlord IV, with the cast from the full series and the staff from Overlord III returning. As for the film, while the staff hasn't been confirmed at the time of this writing, the story will adapt the Holy Kingdom Arc.

No dates have been revealed for either the TV anime or the film. Here's the full key visual for Overlord IV.

Light novel illustrator so-bin also drew a teaser visual:

Crunchyroll has been streaming the Overlord anime as it aired in Japan, and describes it like so:

When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
