Final Fantasy Goes Back to the Beginning with Action-RPG Spinoff
Back when the Final in Final Fantasy actually seemed like it could be legit, the Warrior of Light got together with their merry band of adventurers to take down Chaos. Now Square Enix is getting ready to revisit that world in a new spinoff action-RPG titled Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, which comes from none other than the developers at Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja.
Final Fantasy mainstays Tetsuya Nomura (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII Remake) and Kazushige Nojima are teaming up with the Nioh devs for this one, which is due out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2022. Ahead of that, there's a trial version available on PS5 until June 24, though early downloaders ran into a few hiccups getting the sampler to run properly. While we wait for more, check out the announcement trailer below.
