Hideaki Anno and Khara's Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME has been a huge success, becoming Anno's highest-grossing film while pulling in over 8 billion yen since its premiere. Now they're hoping to add to that total with an updated version, which is on the way for another screening in Japanese theaters starting on June 12.
Titled Evangelion 3.0+1.01, the new version will feature "minor revisions" to the visuals, so fans shouldn't go in expecting major updates to key scenes or anything. That's likely enough to get butts back in seats, though, especially when paired with the promise of a 36-page booklet featuring a short manga set between the first version and the new updated release.
Now we just need to get this one in theaters outside of Japan so the rest of us can finally see it!
