New Ancient Magus’ Bride Anime Is on the Way!

Originally debuting as a manga in 2013, and then as an OVA anime series in 2016, The Ancient Magus Bride is set to resume, this time as a new trilogy of direct to video episodes.

The just-announced The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Nishi no Shonen to Seiran no Kishi is set to feature an original story and some new cast members in the form of Aoi Ichikawa and Hiromi Igarashi.

The first volume will be packaged with the manga’s 16th volume on 9/10. In the meantime, a short preview for Nishi no Shonen to Seiran no Kishi has been released!

Here's the new key art for The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Nishi no Shonen to Seiran no Kishi  along with the synopsis for the original manga by Kore Yamazaki.

Hatori Chise has lived a life full of neglect and abuse, devoid of anything resembling love. Far from the warmth of family, she has had her share of troubles and pitfalls. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains her through a slave auction, Chise’s life will never be the same again.

The man is a “magus,” a sorcerer of great power, who decides to free Chise from the bonds of captivity. The magus then makes a bold statement: Chise will become his apprentice–and his bride!
