FEATURE: More Shonen Series We Want to See in Jump Force
Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft's Jump Force is a dream come true for lots of anime fans. The fighting game brings together heroes and villains from across the world of Shonen Jump manga... which is a pretty big world. The roster includes characters from Naruto and Boruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball, but also more unexpected titles like Dragon Quest and City Hunter. Basically, if it's been in Shonen Jump, it's fair game.
Their selection is already massive, with lots of characters available as DLC. But with Shonen Jump's massive history, there's still plenty to choose from. We're having plenty of fun making Luffy and Goku fight, but here are a few more we wouldn't mind seeing in the future.
Zenitsu, Demon Slayer
Jump Force players have been clamoring for Tanjiro to be added to the roster. The Demon Slayer hero is an understandable pick, both for his overall popularity and the fact that his attacks are just beautiful. It will probably be a bit 'til all the right deals can be made for that to happen... but may we gently suggest Zenitsu when the Demon Slayer seal is broken?
Pretty much any character in the series would be great to play, given their unique fighting styles and the absolute beauty of them. But we're here to see a good sleepy boy get out on the field and thrash DIO with his eyes closed.
Tsuna, REBORN!
Katekyo Hitman REBORN! is your good old-fashioned zero-to-hero story. Boy is loser, boy discovers truth of his past, boy becomes magical mafia dude with cursed baby mentor. By the end of the series, Tsunayoshi Sawada is a force to be reckoned with.
He'd rock the Jump Force roster with his Dying Will Mode — an ability that drops his limiters — and many, many ways of shooting fire out of his hands. Plus, opening the door to REBORN! in Jump Force would mean a wealth of characters with a variety of fighting styles.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo
Yep, it's that guy from your Cartoon Network fever dreams. He's real.
Considering in many ways Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is a send-up of Fist of the North Star's Kenshiro, he'd be a perfect addition to the game. Kenshiro is already a playable character, and pitting them against each other seems like it'd be a riot. And possibly a little horrifying. But you know what? We're here for it.
Cobra
The hero of Space Adventure Cobra — Cobra himself, of course — is the essence of 20th century sci-fi. He's a cool dude with cool guns, the ladies love him, and he's got an air of mystery about him... especially if you go back to his manga origin story.
Having Ryo Saeba of the classic crime series City Hunter in Jump Force brought a cool, and somewhat unexpected, vintage flair to the game. Bringing in Cobra would build on that, besides being a treat for old-school fans. Speaking of which, time for our wild card...
Koji Kabuto, Mazinger Z
Koji definitely looks much more like a Super Robot Wars fighter than a Jump Force fighter. (And you'd be right: Mazinger Z is a mainstage of the crossover tactical game.) But fans of the series know that not only is the title robot's pilot a Shonen Jump star originally, he's one heck of a scrapper.
Out of the mecha, Koji will go toe-to-toe with bullies, villains, and love interest Sayaka. Seeing him scrapping one on one, like he does when he's not protecting the world from Dr. Hell and his weird minions, would be a rare treat.
Who else would you like to see in the next round of Jump Force DLC? You know... besides Tanjiro?
