Guinness Record for Largest Cardcaptor Sakura Collection Goes to U.S. Fan
How much do you love Cardcaptor Sakura? No matter how much merch you have on hand, chances are you're still quite a ways behind Matthew Emblidge, a Columbia, Maryland-based fan who recently broke the existing Guinness World Record for the largest collection of Cardcaptor Sakura merchandise.
What does it take to secure such a mighty honor? In Emblidge's case, he owns a whopping 4,873 Cardcaptor Sakura items, and he attempted to go for the record this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of CLAMP's series. The Sakura superfan shared the image below on Twitter to mark the occasion, and you can see even more of this record-shattering collection on Tumblr and Twitter.
Prior to this, Sofia Pichihua of Peru held the record for Cardcaptor Sakura memorabilia at 1,086 items. It's safe to say the latest holder has quite the lead over the previous record!
CLAMP's series first kicked off in the pages of Nakayoshi magazine back in 1996 and ran until 2000 for a total of 12 collected volumes. The Clear Card sequel followed in 2016, and the series has inspired everything from anime series and films to video games and, as you can see here, a ton of merchandise.
