FEATURE: Here Are the Reasons I Hope I Get Reincarnated as a Slime

Dear universe: when Truck-kun finally comes for me and I get a choice of what sort of life to live in my isekai future, I'm already set. I've seen the options. And while spiders and video game heroines and vending machines all look great, I've made my choice. Reincarnate me as a slime, please.

While Satoru (now Rimuru) may not have intended the shape he got in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, you've gotta admit it worked out pretty well for him. There are down sides — that whole thing about not being able to taste food for a while sounds awful — but the merits seriously outweigh the flaws.

Slime life (slife) is the way to go. Here's why.

Slimes are Super Cute

Adorable Rimuru

We have our priorities in order. The #1 best thing about being reincarnated as a slime is, of course, that you are now an adorable blue squish bean. Rimuru is super cute, as verified by many impartial judge in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a SlimeSeveral of those judges are cute elf girls, yes. What about it?

While Rimuru may have a crazy aura and crazier powers, being an approachable blue blob makes up for a lot of that. You get hugged a lot, too. And we do love hugs.

Great Sage GPS

Rimuru with the Great Sage at the wheel

No matter what shape you take, having someone who can guide your every move is kind of the dream. Rimuru gets the Great Sage, a powered-up skill that helps him analyze his skills and learn how to use them.

The Great Sage has a lot more up her sleeve, and we're not sure how much we'd want her late-stage upgrades... but someone to tell us whether or not the thing we're about to do will work? That would be nice.

Shapeshifting

Rimuru the Human

The whole point of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is... being reincarnated as a slime. But living that slife also means being able to shapeshift into other cool things. Like Direwolves. And Shizu.

Rimuru becomes able to shapeshift into anything he absorbs into his slimy, slimy body. That makes for easy disguises, better fighting, and just being able to live the way he wants. Because sometimes, being a cute blob (as much as we love it) isn't the most tactically advantageous approach.

Super Good Healing

A happy, healing Rimuru

We have to give Rimuru a lot of credit here, of course. He's not able to offer healing just because he's a slime. He's a clever little blob and can not only process organic matter, but also synthesize and combine skills. That means his whole "slime for healing" trick is his own doing.

Nonetheless, we love the idea, and would love to be able to just slap some health on our loved ones at a moment's notice.

A Cozy Place for Friends

Slime and dragon

One of the first things Rimuru does in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is befriend and rescue a dragon. With his abilities, he can give Veldora Tempest a ride-along to safety in his spatial tummy. And, a little more morbidly (but still very nicely), he can lay people to rest this way when asked.

Wouldn't it be great to have a built-in ride or hiding place for friends? They need to get out of a bad situation? Jump in the slime. We'd go for it.

While we're hoping that we still have a lot of life to live before our isekai fantasy kicks in, slife is sounding pretty good. What about you? What's your ideal fantasy world life look like?
